Have an Ideal Home with Porcel-Thin this Christmas

Have yourself a merry little Christmas by selecting festive decorations that will make your interior design pop like a bottle of yuletide bubbly. There’s so much you can do to complement your choice of Porcel-Thin tiles and décor at large…

Karen Walker of Good Homes Magazine giving a talk on Christmas design at the Ideal Home Show

At this year’s Ideal Home Show at Christmas, Karen Walker Editor of Good Homes Magazine and Rachael Kilby-Tyre and Anne Wall from My Interior Design School provided some food for thought on how to beautifully blend 2017’s Christmas decoration trends with existing furnishings and features for maximum effect. Here’s a look at Christmas decoration trends, from classic country to cosy ski lodge, and ideas for how to coordinate them with our thin porcelain tiles throughout your home.

Classic country style

If your home interior pays homage to natural look materials – such as our wood effect antibacterial tiles or stone effect tiles in a marble or sandstone finish, it sounds like you’re “A Little Bit Classic Country”. According to Karen, Rachael and Anne, traditional reds and greens are your best bet this festive season. Go for simple leafy wreaths and keep your wrapping plain and understated – brown paper with white string and a pine cone or red berry embellishment achieves that classic country chic.

Glitter and gold

When your home is already alive with glitz, shimmer and burnish – say our Lisbon Metallic Tile Collection lends a fabulous feature wall to your lounge, our Province Metallic Tile Collection provides an ultra-modern glimmering kitchen-diner or our Nero Portoro Marble adds a touch to your bedroom that Midas would brag about – the interior design experts suggest that you complement your scheme but keep the overall effect subtle. Perhaps a statement tree in white with barely there baubles would look the part. Alternatively, choose a traditional tree and pick up on those metallic décor features by selecting one colour theme, say gold, and carrying through a shape theme, say geometrics, in your paper chains and tree ornaments.

Cosy ski lodge

Are you still riding the hygge wave? Do you favour pale wood flooring, light walls, clean lines and sheepskin on the back of your dining room chairs? This Nordic interior design trend is still around and comes with its very own timeless Fair Isle festive theme. Think rustic wooden stockings, a snow effect on your spruce and pom-poms adorning everything from textiles to trees.

Silver and grey

Continuing that hygge feel but with a contemporary flourish, silver and grey is a great look and there are an abundance of Porcel-Thin tiles, from Paris porcelain tiles to Cemento Structured Concrete Tiles, available to carry this theme throughout your home. When it comes to decking the halls, silver highlights look fabulous against a grey backdrop while monochrome adornments add an elegant touch.

Whatever porcelain tiles suit your interior design styling, there’s a fabulous festive trend that will make your home look sensationally seasonal this Christmas.
