Marble impossible: Porcel-Thin and Tiling Pro, Marc, come to the rescue of a desperate homeowner
Tom Cruise may be quite at home clinging to the outside of an airplane at 10,000 feet but it takes a truly professional outfit to handle a bathroom tiling emergency.
Two years after having their entire en-suite bathroom installed with natural Travertine stone tiling a Surrey homeowner started to have problems with water leaks from their shower enclosure. A return visit by the original contractors resulted in a fix so horrible that that the despairing client decided that they had no choice but to tear out the whole room and start again - a very costly and disruptive course of action.
Enter Marc Tiling - a tiling professional in every sense of the word. Marc immediately realised that stripping out the existing bathroom would cause a significant amount of damage. Determined to find a way to remedy the situation Marc turned to Porcel-Thin and our extensive range of ultra-thin, marble effect porcelain wall and floor tiles for the answer. Having worked with our approved contractor and training partner, GB Walsh, on the prestigious Sleep Set display for Harrods, Marc was well aware of the high quality and versatility of our large porcelain tiles.
Marble Effect Porcelain Tiles the Perfect Choice
Knowing the client's preference for polished porcelain tiles Marc suggested they take a look at the Carrara marble effect tiles from Porcel-Thin's Ferrara collection. The homeowners immediately fell in love with the elegant marbling of the natural stone effect wall and floor tiles. In particular, the client was bowled over by their perfect realism and completely natural look.
However, the greatest advantage was the fact that, due to their being ultra-thin and light weight, the Porcel-Thin marble stone effect porcelain tiles could simply be fixed into place on top of the existing natural stone tiles on the floor, ceiling and walls. Marc's cunning decision to use our Carrara porcelain tiles meant that the costly and disruptive gutting of the en-suite bathroom was now unnecessary.
A Bathroom Tiling Project for a Man Who Enjoys a Challenge
However, Marc still faced several difficulties in the retiling required. Chief amongst these was the fact that, with it being located in the eves of the house, the bathroom had a number of challenging features - not least sloping ceilings, recesses and awkward corners. Here again, the versatility of Porcel-Thin's easy to cut, thin porcelain tiles, in concert with Marc's own dedication to a professional job, meant that he could successfully shape and fix the intricate tiling, as required - and without the need for unsightly trims and beads.
Three weeks and some 26 sq meters of white Carrara marble effect porcelain tiles later Marc has completed the job to his trademark level of perfection.
The Look and Feel of Real Marble with the Practicality of a Porcelain Tile
The result is a stunning bathroom which takes full advantage of Porcel-Thin's beautiful porcelain floor and wall tiles. The fact that they are stronger, lighter and cheaper than natural marble is only added to by the striking realism achieved by the latest digital printing techniques used in their construction. Unlike natural stone these large porcelain tiles won't require any special care - meaning that they'll stay looking great with only the bare minimum of maintenance.
In the true style of unsung heroes everywhere Marc has already moved on to another job. This time using Porcel-Thin's ultra-thin book match marble porcelain tiles for a complicated staircase in central London. For him, it's just another Mission: Impossible - but without the high-flying stunts.
