Porcelain Tiles Prove Perfect for Hotels

Our large-format marble-effect porcelain tiles are proving extremely popular for the commercial sector, especially hotels. As are our cement-look porcelain tiles, which offer urban-chic for up-to-the-minute interior style. But don’t just take our word for it, look at what was achieved when our tiles were used for this Welsh wonder of a spa hotel…

As part of an en-suite bathroom refurbishment at the Heyward Spa Hotel, Porcel-Thin tiles were the most stylish, sophisticated and cost-effective choice. Two beautiful white porcelain tile types were chosen from our Ferrara collection in combination with a refined dark grey offering from the Porcel-Thin Cemento structured concrete tile collection to create hotel bathrooms that exude elegance.

Located in the seaside town of Tenby in pretty Pembrokeshire, the 4-star Heyward Spa Hotel is built around a 19th century Grade II listed building that was once a prominent family home. The developers and designers saw the potential of our classic marble-look tiles, which offer that traditional touch with a nod towards the building’s heritage, combined with our cool cement-look tiles to bring the hotel bang into the 21st century.

Ghost White Marble Tiles – with their striking snowy base, ethereal blue/grey veining and highly polished finish for mirror shine – were used for the walls of some bathrooms to give a light and airy feel. Calacatta White Marble effect tiles – with their more traditional marble styling of dark grey veining on pure white – were the selected wall tiles for other bathrooms and make a superb backdrop for modern monotone fixtures and fittings. While Cinis Cemento tiles, with their understated urban styling, provide a matt finish for more slip-resistance on all floors.

What makes porcelain tiles so hot for hotels?

  1. Low-maintenance – Excellent resistance to water and dirt, as well as antibacterial porcelain tile options for long-lasting hygiene in public areas for maximum health and safety, these tiles don’t need deep-cleaning and will stay fresh as a daisy.
  2. No slip ups – Many Porcel-Thin tiles have the option for textured surfaces so that floor tiles can achieve better slip-resistance underfoot and by taking advantage of our in-house PTV Tile Slip Resistance Testing service, you can make sure your tiles always meet HSE slip-resistance guidelines.
  3. Big time savers – Large-format tiles (all 1200 x 660mm for the Harwood Spa Hotel project) mean faster installation time (so less time closed to the public) and fewer grout lines for a more seamless and continuous pattern for the most authentic natural stone look.
