Our Pick of the Best Interior Design Shows in 2020

Futurebuild eco-friendly home design show 2020

As much as we love our south London showroom, it’s always nice to get out and about. That’s why over the past few years we have attended some of Britain’s top interior design shows. In this article we give you the lo-down on the four biggest and best shows aimed at fans of interior design, whether you’re a professional or a part-timer.

Futurebuild – 3-5 March

Futurebuild eco-friendly home design show 2020

Whatever industry you’re in, climate change poses an ever-growing threat to sustainability. Interior designers are under more pressure than ever to find design solutions that adhere to eco-friendly principles. Step forward, Futurebuild.

Formerly known as Ecobuild, the Futurebuild show takes place over three days at London’s ExCel arena. Now in its 16th year, the show styles itself as an “environment event”, with a focus “exploring and tackling the biggest challenges impacting the industry.”

Visitors can explore six sections: Buildings, Energy, Infrastructure, Interiors, Offsite and Resourceful Materials. You can also choose from 200 hours of structured learning courses, as well as dozens of speeches and presentations from sustainability experts. By the day’s end, you’ll be fully clued-up on many aspects of eco-friendly design.

Ideal Home Show – 27 March – 13 April

Ideal home live show 2020

On the other side of town, an even bigger show gets underway in March at the Olympia. The Ideal Home Show packs in almost everything you could wish for in a home design exhibition. Kitchens, bathrooms, living rooms, hallways, gardens, lofts – you name it, it’s in the show.

Highlights include Expert Advice Hubs for home projects, show gardens and Roomsets by Good Homes Magazine, and free entry to foodies’ favourite Eat & Drink Show. There’s a bit of stardust as well, with celebrity speakers including TV’s Alan Titchmarsh, George Clarke, Lisa Snowdon and Phil Spencer.

Porcel-Thin is no stranger to the Ideal Home Show. We’ve showcased many of our innovative ultra-thin porcelain tiles over the years, including the jaw-dropping Leviathan tiles and the cutting edge Bac Tech antibacterial tiles.

Grand Designs Live – 2-10 May and 7-10 October

Grand Designs live at London ExCel 2020

Bringing Kevin McLeod’s popular Channel 4 show to life, Grand Designs Live is an unmissable blend of expert advice, inspiring displays and revolutionary product launches. Packing in four different “project zones” under one roof, the event takes place at London’s ExCel in May and the Birmingham NEC in October.

The hub of the show is the Grand Theatre, which hosts daily talks by some of Britain and Europe’s leading design experts. Visitors can reserve a 30-minute slot at the Ask An Expert zone to discuss their next project with – you guessed it – a design expert.

Home Building & Renovating Show – 25-27 September (London)

Homebuilding and renovating show 2020

Fresh from Porcel-Thin’s successful turn at last year’s show, we couldn’t possibly overlook the London Home Building & Renovating show in 2020. A three-day jamboree of all things renovation, the show boasts thousands of new and innovative products, a comprehensive Advice Centre, and informative exhibits on all aspects of DIY home building.

Unlike the other shows on this list, the Home Building & Renovating Show tours the entire country throughout the year. Whether you live in Scotland, the North, the Midlands or the West Country, there’s a show convenient to you.

If you’d like to know more about how to use Porcel-Thin tiles to renovate your home, we are happy to share tips and advice. Simply message our team or give us a call on 020 7394 9468. Alternatively, you can visit our London showroom to see our amazing porcelain tiles collections for yourself.
