Marble Entrance Hall Southend
Designing a stunning hallway tile layout for a Southend home inspired by a client’s Pinterest ideas board, John Simons of V-TA Architectural Tiling really outdid himself this time.
Porcel-Thin approved tiler John Simons was tiling a client’s bathroom in Essex when they approached him about tiling their hallway too. After seeing a photo of what the client’s perfect hallway would look like, John knew that when cut to size Porcel-Thin’s large-format pale and interesting Mona Lisa Volakas tiles would look divine edged with dark and dreamy 3D Shadow Emperador Onyx.
Taking on the whole process from preparation (seven days) to tiling (eight days), John removed the original outdated parquet flooring and cleaned, primed and levelled the area ready for the new porcelain tiles. He completed the setting out freehand and experimented with placing and cutting the tiles until he cracked a design that fitted the style and scale of the room to perfection.
Using 450mm squares of Volakas cut from 900 x 900mm large-format tiles without wastage, the size requirements of the darker boarder soon slotted into place. He worked out a nifty template for laying the curve at the foot of the stairs too. Working from the centre of the hallway outwards, John completed tiling in just over one week. We’re sure you’ll agree that the result is simply stunning.
