Just as seasoned stylists get snap-happy and create amazing results in hair salons, our approved tilers know how to cut and finish porcelain tiles to perfection – without a razor or tile trim in sight! Here are the highlights from May’s Trimline event for the barbers of the building world, if you will…
On Wednesday 16 May hundreds of professional tilers and trade tools experts rocked up to showcase their products and network with the great and the good of the tiling industry. Like last year’s inaugural event in March, the tile-tastic gathering took place at the Trimline Group HQ in Swanley, Kent.
Tile brand bonanza
Welcoming brands including Atrim, Dukkaboard and Mapei who showcased their products, Trimline were once again fantastic hosts. As well as providing special offers for invitees on a wide range of tiling tools and products, they put on a variety of refreshments throughout the day with a lip-smacking hog roast for lunch.
Kerakoll, the tile adhesive and grout specialists, demonstrated their latest Bio Gel rapid setting tile adhesive and Fugabella Eco Flex tile grout. Likewise, Schlüter-Systems displayed a wide range of wetroom construction, drainage and finishing profile products while Rubi, Montolit and Sigma cut to the chase with their top of the range tiling tools. Soudal – known for their silicone sealant solutions – as well as Lithofin and Fila tile care products were also on the VIP guest list.
With help from Marc Tiling, Porcel-Thin’s Ray put on a series of tile cutting and finishing demonstrations. Our tame tilers revealed how to use a grinder to mitre the tile edges and create a neat corner detail without the need for tile trims – a revelation for many. What’s more, tilers who were new to our super-thin porcelain tiles got the chance to have a go and ask the experts with impressive results.
In celebration of their newly expanded showroom and trade centre, and as last year’s live book match tiling demo went down so well, the Trimline Group asked us to add some more Porcel-Thin magic to the mix. This time, approved Porcel-Thin tiling contractor and training partner G B Walsh demonstrated how to tile with our extra-large format (2.4m x 1.2m) Leviathan tiles, which were installed in the Trimline boardroom.
New large-format porcelain tiles coming soon!
Talking of Leviathan, these extra-large tiles continue to be BIG news. Following numerous commercial orders for the big beauties and a number of enquiries at this year’s Grand Design Live, we previewed some new Leviathan tile designs at the Trimline event that will launch soon. Three new designs will be in stock in 4-5 weeks; you heard it here first!
